Is Your Family Prepared For a Disaster?
How would you and your family cope if some form of disaster struck your town or home? Have you any form of plan in place?
These are questions that many people do not even want to think about, some would say, why are you thinking in such a negative
manner?
I would answer by saying that my family are the most important thing in my life and that I will do anything to protect them. The police
and other emergency services plan for these potential events by way of role plays therefore why should I not also plan ahead, just in
case?
So what types of planning can one do? It is prudent to have a number of essentials within easy access should such a disaster occur.
These essentials would include tinned food, bottled water, candles, matches, blankets, clothes, soap and a radio.
You could also designate an area of the house that all the family would go to in the event of a disaster. I have even practiced for
such an event with my own family; my children thought it was very exciting with all the candles lit and with us all listening to the small
transistor radio for the latest news.
I have informed them that should a real disaster occur then their excitement would likely be replaced by fear, in reality I hope that I
would be able to turn a disaster into an event they find exciting rather than are very scared in.
I was speaking to my friend about this very subject last night; he is a DVD authoring specialist who helped me with a recent project to do with my stuttering therapy business. His name is John and he agreed that you should ensure that
your family is well protected at all times and in case of any event taking place.
With the continued threat from terrorist attacks we should all be aware that disaster could be only minutes away.
We all of course hope that we can live in a peaceful and happy world, free from disasters and wars; unfortunately this seems to be a
long way away.
Many Christians believe that this type of world is inevitable due to the fact we are currently ruled by Satan; in fact they would argue
that the Bible has predicted or stated that our current troubled times would happen.
Perhaps the next so called disaster will in fact be the Armageddon they are all waiting for. Then there could be a new found
peace!
